We think all of our dogs are wonderful!  Please try not to "fall in love" with a particular dog's picture on our web site. We try very hard to match the RIGHT dog to the RIGHT home. Please trust our judgment in placing a hound with your family!

OUR DOGS WILL BE STAYING IN FOSTER HOMES UNTIL ADOPTED.  ANYONE INTERESTED, PLEASE CONTACT US

More dogs arriving soonÖ.

Needs Time & Patience to Blossom

Alec just retired from a racing career in Florida (Naples, Flagler & Daytona Beach)- where he had a few 1st place wins. His sire was the famous Flying Penske, and his dam was DS Babe. Alec is going to need a very calm, quiet home with adults, a safely fenced backyard, and a confident canine companion. He is somewhat timid with strangers & new situations. He has a great appetite and enjoys treats of all kinds. He is currently living with cats, small dogs & greyhounds- he does well with all of them.

Alec was friendly and content at the track with the trainers he knew and loved. It may take a few weeks, or even a few months, for him to warm up to a new family and new environment. He is starting to slowly warm up and follows his foster family from room to room but stays just out of reach most of the time. He is very quiet and never makes a peep. Alec also does well in his crate, itís his security blanket for now. We recently placed Alecís sister, DS Abby. Itís going to be very rewarding for the family who adopts Alec to watch him grow & gain confidence. He is a lover, and really wants to give his trust to someone special. Please donít let his shy persona deter you, Alec will be a loving, joyful companion when he gets used to his new environment. It will take a little patience and time for him to adjust, but the reward will be worth it to all of you!

<MEDICAL HOLD>

Tall, Dark & Handsome:

Charlie was an awesome racer, winning several stakes races. He then went onto stud dog duties at his farm in Kansas. GPA Lexington offered to help when he came down with a mysterious illness around 5/10/2018. His diagnosis is likely "Trigeminal Neuralgia." Once started on a course of steroids, he is now able to eat again, he's on the mend. This could be a life-long, autoimmune disorder that could relapse, or it could be a one-time issue that never happens again. The medicine (Prednisone) to treat it, is just a few dollars, so that shouldn't factor into finding a forever home.

Charlie is a happy, friendly guy who loves food, chew bones, toys, walks, people & other dogs. He's a wise, old soul who is going to make a great pet for just about anyone. He's gained 10# as of 6/20, and may gain 5-10# more. His dose of daily medicine has been cut in half, and he's done great. He'll get a neuter & dental in a few weeks, once he's weaned completely off his medicine. Go ahead and put in your application now, he won't be available for long.

Waverly

Racing Name: WV's Waverly
Pet/Kennel Name: Waverly
DOB: May 10, 2014 (4yo)
GENDER: Female
COLOR: Black
WEIGHT: 54#
CAT SAFE: Yes
SMALL-DOG SAFE: Yes
SMALL-CHILD SAFE: Yes

Waverly is a sensitive soul.... She just retired from 106 races at Tri-State track in West Virginia. She needs a home with a fenced yard for security, and privacy to do her business. Waverly will also need another dog to keep her company & show her the ropes of retirement. She's a bit overwhelmed any time her leash is put on, but her foster family is teaching her that means getting to do fun things like going for car rides, and shopping for treats & stuffies. Right now Waverly loves cuddling in her Slumberball, bouncing around with toys at home, and lounging in the grass. Give this sweet, sleek lady time, and she'll give you the biggest heart around.

Odd Cherie is an 11.5yo retired racer & brood mama. She was a farm pet for the last year, but sheís ready for a forever home now. She loves to snuggle, and her tail is always wagging. Cherie can be a little bossy about her space & her toys-  so she would do better as an only dog, or with a laid-back dog who will let her rule the roost. Her favorite past-time is running in the yard and playing with stuffed toys.  Sheíll spend over an hour squeaking them, if you let her.  This golden girl is in great health- she loves long walks, she runs up & down the stairs, and eats with gusto. Itís not all about the quantity of time we have with them, itís the quality thatís most important. Please wonít you open your heart & home to this sweet old lady? Unruly Polar
